The Old Slave House (Hickory Hill), Junction, IL

The Hickory Hill mansion was built in 1842 by a wealthy man, John Hart Crenshaw, who owned several salt tracts. Although it was illegal to own slaves in Illinois at this time, it was legal to lease slaves from other states to work in the salt mines.

Crenshaw imprisoned slaves, some of whom were kidnapped, in the attic of the mansion in narrow cells and manacles. He reportedly tortured and beat the slaves for many years, and also "bred" his own slaves, until eventually his cruel practices were discovered and he retired to become a farmer.

In the 1920s, the house was opened as a tourist attraction where slavery existed in Illinois, however tourists began reporting sounds of people crying and moaning coming from the attic, cold chills, and whispers. Things intensified when a ghost hunter named Hickman Whittington went to the attic shortly after it opened and spent a few hours there. Though he was in perfect health at the time, he died a few hours after leaving the mansion.

Reportedly, hundreds of people tried to spend the night in the attic after Whittington's death, but would leave, terrorized, before morning (one man did finally spend the night there in 1978, and reported strange sounds).

Currently, the Hickory Hills mansion is owned by the state of Illinois, and is scheduled to open as a historic site (but has not yet re-opened to visitors). In the mean time this house is a haunted place.

This photo was taken in the attic at my workplace (a restaurant which used to be a house and a theater) there are quite a few close encounters by the staff with ghosts in the last 10 years.....but now, finally, we have captured something on film. We believe this to be a shadow ghost that is haunting the restaurant where I work.

It almost looks like a misty space alien. It's actually clear enough to warrant our time and consideration. We of course can't completely rule out breath or even smoke from a photographers cigarette but we do need to keep an open mind with this one. Could it be a 'being' forming in the mist?

We have no idea what this is but it's frightening for us to see a picture of our car with what looks like a screaming face in our car! We know that images appearing in windows can be deceiving but this one has us scared. If you don't see it right away, it's in the rear side window. Please let us know what you think.

My friend and I were hearing noises in his house one night. The sounds were coming from the kitchen, so we went down there and found cabinet doors open, which we found odd. Well on the way back to our rooms I was trying to send a text message but couldn’t for some reason. So we stood there trying to figure out what was going on with the phone when we heard another door open. We looked up and saw this ghostly figure. My friend had his phone out so he quickly took a picture as this figure stood there for a few moments. To me it looks like the guy had been hung and is wearing a stripped shirt with a black bowtie.

This is a very creepy picture. This pictures were taken in Edinburgh on 28th Nov 2009 with digital camera.

Here is a picture of Christmas Eve really late, in Kankakee, Illinois, USA. This was my cousin's house that looked nicely decorated so I took a picture. There were others with me, but not in front of the camera. 35 mm camera with Kodak 200 film." I dont know how this figure is appear in fornt of camera. Well i think it appears a ghost visiting on Christmas Eve.

This picture was taken at the Flanders Hotel in Ocean City. The strange thing is that myself and another person took a photo at the same time. Nothing came out on his photo, only mine. The blue image does have a clear face and that's what is freaking us out! Please let me know what you think.
